When we think of love we think of the people closest to us, those who stir warm emotional feelings within us. Those warm feelings range from romantic feelings between people in love, to the love between a parent and child, to the love between close friends, all different types of love with an emotional feeling of warmth and closeness. That love comes from somewhere deep inside us and prompts us to do things for the people we love.
Jesus faced a question about love when asked by a Pharisee about the greatest commandment. He answered by saying that the first and greatest commandment is, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” and that the second is, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But he didn’t stop there. Jesus finished by saying “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40).
